Support for research impact in MVLS
The MVLS Research Impact Support team is here to promote and embed increased awareness, understanding, and best practice around research impact within the College research culture. We support this objective through connecting people; training (understanding, planning for, and documenting impact); and directly helping researchers to plan for, identify and evidence their impact.
The easiest definition of 'impact' is 'making a difference beyond academia through research'. It has always been a part of our mission as a College. Impact is an integral component in research funding decisions, from individual research grants through to institutional funding. This practice can be invaluable when designing and developing new research programmes, because planning for impact can reveal opportunities for collaboration and co-delivery of new research questions that have potential to generate benefits and change.
