Sistemic hold a world-leading position in understanding the role of miRNA in cellular processes and proprietary miRNA profiling technology. The collaboration between the Glasgow Molecular Pathology Node and Sistemic allows the Node to access unique miRNA profiling technology. The cell and tissue specific nature of miRNAs make them ideal biomarkers with potential importance as diagnostic targets. Sistemic has recently found evidence of the role of miRNAs in predicting biological outcomes in cellular processes. Through this collaboration the Node’s diagnostic pipeline will benefit from being able to exploit the potential of an additional strategy concurrently with next generation sequencing (NGS); this will add further insights and granularity beyond a cell’s genomic make-up.
