Glasgow Science Festival wins Best Scottish Festival Award

‌Glasgow Science Festival has been awarded Best Scottish Festival at the annual Scottish Hospitality Awards. The festival faced stiff competition from nine other finalists across Scotland including MugStock, Borders Book Festival and Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival. Glasgow Science Festival takes place every June, involving hundreds of staff and students from the University of Glasgow and beyond. Most events are free to attend, with fun, hands-on science for schools, adults and all ages.

The festival is organised by Festival Director, Dr Deborah McNeill, Public Engagement Co-ordinator, Dr Zara Gladman, and Administrator, Donna Namyslak. The festival has an impressive reach and engaged over 46,000 people in 2017. The 2018 festival has recently finished and featured everything from pub talks and yoga sessions to walking tours and large-scale family days.

Dr Deborah McNeill said: “We are delighted to receive this award, which recognises the incredibly hard work of our team and our many partner staff and volunteers.”
