Scottish Public Engagement Network meetings held in Glasgow

The College was delighted to host two recent meetings of the Scottish Public Engagement Network (ScotPEN); an inclusive, collaborative network of people involved in public engagement in Scotland. In May 2018, Imran Khan, Head of Public Engagement at Wellcome Trust, revealed a new strategic direction for Wellcome’s public engagement funding. Network members and academic staff discussed the implications of this strategy for Scotland and how ScotPEN can contribute to it.

A panel of speakers from Wellcome, UK Research & Innovation and Scottish Funding Council gave updates and answered audience questions about public engagement funding. Plenary speakers from the National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement, University of Dundee and University College London also shared expertise. Wellcome’s Institutional Strategic Support Fund funded the meetings and outcomes will be shared in a forthcoming report.
