Biochemical Society Science Communication Competition 2017
Alex Binks, PhD student in the Institute of Cancer Sciences, scooped first prize in the Biochemical Society Science Communication Competition 2017 video competition for his entry ‘How to make a virus'. Now in its sixth year, the competition asks entrants to create an engaging written article or video explaining biomolecular topics to the general public.
Alex said: “I am absolutely thrilled to have won first place in the SciComm competition and would like to thank everyone involved in the organisation and judging. The video was a lot of fun to make, and I’m delighted to think it is being enjoyed by others as well! Hopefully my video will help people to understand viruses a little better and all the cool things they are able to do.” School of Life Sciences students Bryony Barnes and Catherine Baker came second and third (respectively) in the written competition. Congratulations to all three students. Read more.
