New funding from BBSRC and MRC

Professors Graeme Milligan and Andrew Tobin of the Institute of Molecular, Cell and Systems Biology have received two new grants from BBSRC (Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council) and MRC (Medical Research Council) to follow up their BBSRC and MRC logoongoing studies on the free fatty acid receptor FFA4. The BBSRC grant will continue their detailed analysis of the underpinning modes of action roles of FFA4 using combinations of transgenic knock-in mouse lines expressing either wild type or phosphorylation-deficient forms of the receptor and sensors of receptor function. The MRC grant will explore the role of this receptor in lung function and whether agonists at this receptor might be useful in the treatment of asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
