Ms Kirstin Leslie, a PhD student from the Institute of Health and Wellbeing, is the 2017 winner of the highly prestigious MRC Max Perutz Science Writing Award.

Kirstin, who is part of the joint University of Glasgow - University of Edinburgh MRC-funded Doctoral Training Programme in Precision Medicine, was identified by an eminent panel as the UK's best MRC student in the art of communicating science to a wider audience. In her award-winning article, Kirstin explains why her research matters and describes how she is trying to find out why people stop taking drugs prescribed for preventing heart disease. ‌

As her article was judged to be the most compelling and informative, Kirstin picked up the £1,500 prize, with her prose being published on the MRC Insight blog. We would like to congratulate Kirstin on this amazing personal achievement which reflects well on her and the PGR cohort within our College.
