Introduction from Professor Dame Anna Dominiczak, Vice Principal and Head of College of MVLS
Welcome to the Winter 2017 edition of the MVLS College newsletter. As Christmas approaches, we reflect on the past year and celebrate our successes.
I am very proud of the College’s success in this year’s National Student Survey, with overall satisfaction and many MVLS subjects receiving exceptionally high scores (details below). Many congratulations and sincere thanks to all staff for your huge efforts in achieving these results.
I am delighted to report the beginning of an exciting new international partnership, with the signing of an historic agreement between Mahidol University in Thailand and the University of Glasgow, enabling the College’s first international joint PhD programme, with the exchange of PhD students.
In March 2018 the College will be hosting a series of discovery science surgeries (diagnostics and drug discovery) to provide academics with an opportunity to discuss their research with industry experts and explore ways to advance/translate their research, even if it is at a very early stage. Please see below for details of how to get involved.
Thank you to all those who submitted entries to the MVLS Images with Impact competition. The judging panel was overwhelmed by the variety and high quality of the images submitted. The winning entry will be used for this year’s College Christmas card. Thank you also to all those who nominated colleagues in the MVLS Service Excellence Awards. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded at College Christmas Council from 3-5pm on Tuesday 19th December in the Atrium, Wolfson Medical School Building. It would be wonderful to see you there to celebrate successes and the festive season over refreshments. If you have not already done so, please register here.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff, students and supporters for your hard work and commitment this year, and to wish you and yours a very merry Christmas and a healthy, happy and successful New Year.
