Professor Anna Amtmann, Dr Pawel Herzyk and Dr Zaigham Shahzad, all from the Institute of Molecular, Cell and Systems Biology, have successfully secured funding from a joint UK-India Newton-Bhabha Fund, which focuses on key socio-economic challenges relevant to international development.

The fund is a co-investment by Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and Innovate UK. The three year grant will enable the team to carry out collaborative research, working with Dr Ashish Srivastava and Dr Penna Suprasanna of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, India, aiming to improve Indian agriculture by enhancing resilience of soybean against drought, heat and salinity.
