Funding details: Tuition fees and annual stipend at UKRI rate, plus a Research Training Support Grant (for AHRC scholarships)

- Applicants must not be holding another full Scholarship for the 2024/25 academic session.
- Distance Learning applicants are not eligible.

HOW TO APPLY

- Contact a prospective Supervisor to discuss a research proposal.
- Apply for a place on the relevant doctoral programme via the online Admissions application by Monday 4 December 2023, 12 noon (GMT)
- Complete and return the scholarship application form by Monday 4 December 2023, 12 noon (GMT): Arts Doctoral Scholarship Application Form 2024 (Word Doc, 65.8 KB)
Applicants will be informed by the end of January 2024 if their application has been selected for nomination to the Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities (SGSAH) for an AHRC scholarship.

College of Arts & Humanities Scholarships
The College of Arts & Humanities has priority funds available from its College Scholarship scheme to support applicants who fall under one of the University of Glasgow’s Widening Participation criteria.
On the application form, please tick the relevant box(es) if you believe you fall under one or more of the following criteria:
- Qualified for an adjusted entry or contextual admissions offer to your undergraduate degree on widening participation grounds
- Took part in a widening participation programme while at school, college, at a Summer School or on an Access course before starting your undergraduate degree
- Have care experience (i.e. have lived in Foster Care, Residential Care, were Looked After At Home (with Social Work involvement), or in Kinship Care (living with a family member).)
- Are a carer (provide unpaid care) (i.e. provide care, unpaid, for a friend or family member who due to illness, a disability, a mental health problem or an addiction, cannot cope without your support. Parents should only tick this box if their child has a specific medical (or other) condition that necessitates a significant amount of care outwith 'normal' parenting responsibilities.)
- Are seeking asylum in the UK
- Have refugee status
Please note that these priority funds are only available to UK applicants OR applicants falling under criteria 5 or 6.
AHRC / Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities
The University of Glasgow is part of the Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities Doctoral Training Partnership. This is a consortium of ten Higher Education institutions which has been awarded funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to support postgraduate studentships and training in the Arts and Humanities in Scotland. Under the Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) scheme, the consortium - comprised of the Universities of Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Highlands and Islands, St Andrews, Stirling, Strathclyde, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Glasgow School of Art - will consider applications for doctoral studentship awards in the majority of Arts and Humanities subjects.
Applicants should apply to their preferred institution. Following an internal selection process, each institution will nominate a number of applications to the Scottish Graduate School for the Arts & Humanities (SGSAH) who will make the final decisions on awards across the consortium.
