This presentation reflects on using graphic novels to engage diverse publics in important social justice challenges. 'House Without Windows' uses an innovative blend of illustration, photography and immersive 360 video to document how ongoing conflict in the Central African Republic has affected children. Based on an archived Rwandan oral tradition, 'Nyiragitwa: Daughter of Sacyega' is a historical study that was designed to promote present-day gender equality, by teaching Rwandans about a 17th C. woman who once exercised great power.
