Doctoral Scholarships in Arts & Humanities

Applications are now open for 2022 Doctoral scholarships with the College of Arts.

These fully funded PhD studentships are provided through the Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities (SGSAH), Doctoral Training Partnership. The awards are open to UK, EU and international students, comprising of tuition fees, an annual stipend at UKRI standard rate, and a doctoral training programme (restrictions may apply, please see eligibility and guidance notes).

Glasgow has been the most successful University in securing awards for its applicants through the SGSAH DTP for the last three years.

The SGSAH PhD Studentships offer:

  • funding for up to 42 months of full-time study (depending on length of study remaining)
  • enhanced training provision, with access to 11 Discipline+ Catalysts comprising academic specialists and PG researchers from across Scotland
  • access to industry and networking through three Knowledge Exchange Hubs
  • access to work experience through paid internships and artist residencies
  • opportunities for study and internships internationally
  • funding for individually tailored, specialised training
  • funding for collaborative training with peer networks across Scotland
  • annual Summer School and showcases to help share and promote your work
  • opportunities for co-supervision across ten HEIs in Scotland

Awards are open to new applicants and continuing PhD students who will have completed less than 50% of their PhD by 1 October 2022.
