2020 & 2021 Alumni Graduation Celebration Events

The University is pleased offer you the chance to celebrate your graduation with us in August 2022. The opportunity is available to all those who completed their degrees in summer 2020, winter 2020 and summer 2021 and, due to Covid-19, were unable to attend a graduation ceremony at the time. 

There will be a two-step process to register. Step one is to register your interest to attend, this determines the number of ceremonies we will run to accommodate demand. Within a few weeks, we will contact those who have registered their interest to offer them first opportunity to fully register and confirm their booking.  

Please note that emails will be sent directly to alumni who did not have the opportunity to attend a graduation ceremony as a result of their ceremony being cancelled during lockdown. Only those alumni are eligible to register for this.

 

Event Dates & Times

The events are planned for Mon 22 Aug to Fri 26 Aug 2022, in the Bute Hall. Each day will be dedicated to a specific college as follows: 

Mon 22 Aug - College of Arts 

Tue 23 Aug - College of Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences 

Wed 24 Aug - College of Social Sciences 

Thu 25 Aug - College of Science & Engineering 

Fri 26 Aug - All Colleges (for those who cannot attend on their college specific day) 

Exact ceremony times will be determined by demand, you will be able to select a time slot at the time of final booking.  

Format of events

The ceremonies will take place in the the Bute Hall and will follow the same format.  There will be a reception in the cloisters and the opportunity for photography. Gown hire will be available and the details and deadlines for this will be issued once you have registered your interest.

FAQs

Who are these events for? 

These events are for alumni who did not have the opportunity to attend a graduation ceremony as a result of their ceremony being cancelled during lockdown (summer 2020, winter 2020 and summer 2021 cancelled graduation ceremonies). 

Why do I have to register my interest?  

Due to unknown demand for these events we need to gauge interest to ensure we offer enough ceremonies whilst also ensuring the ceremonies are well attended. Registering your interest will allow us to plan a great event and give you first access to booking.  

When will I be able to fully book for this event? 

Those who are eligible to attend will receive an email to notify them booking is open. If you register your interest, you will receive this email earlier, with priority booking access.  

Is there a cost to get a ticket? 

Just as with graduation, the event is free but you need to pay for gown hire and photography.  

Can I bring guests?  

Yes, just as with graduation, each ‘graduate’ can bring two guests.  

Will the University cover my travel and accommodation costs? 

There is no funding available to cover travel and accommodation costs. All costs to get to the event must be borne by the attendee.
