Description:
This half day course is for individuals who would like to gain some insight into different types of behaviour and its impact on others. In particular it focuses on strategies for behaving assertively in the workplace and avoiding being either a doormat or a bully.

Objectives:

  • explore the differences between different types of behaviour (passive, aggressive, assertive).
  • identify the payoffs for these behaviours.
  • identify how assertive behaviour can help ensure you are not imposed upon (or seen to be imposing on others).
  • discuss how you can ask for what you want directly, openly, and in an appropriate way and avoid unproductive conflict.
  • practise assertive speech and behaviour.

Communicating with colleagues & customers can be frustrating when we just don't seem to look at the world in the same way. This half day session explores the theory of personality type (using the MBTIŽ instrument) to promote greater understanding of self and others to facilitate better communication between people. Those attending will be sent an online MBTI questionnaire in advance of the session.

This half day course is designed for people who would like to gain personal and shared insights and ideas about how to get more from the time available to them. It offers a practical approach to avoiding overload by helping people appreciate the core principles of effective time management in relation to their current working practices. It covers a variety of areas including self assessment of current time management, techniques for improvement and sample tools which can be of practical assistance in making the necessary changes to decisions taken around the effective management of time and workload.

Managing Work Life Balance

This one day course is designed for individuals who would like to pursue a more effective work/life balance. It provides an opportunity to take time to explore options and practise techniques which may assist you in achieving an effective work/life balance. (Please note, however, that it is not a time management course)

Objectives:

  • identify the key components of an effective work/life balance.
  • identify a variety of effective work/life balance practices.
  • identify the impacts of over-stress, under-stress and cumulative stress.
  • learn how to manage pressure in order to improve performance and to avoid the negative effects of excessive pressure.
  • identify ways of adapting to individual differences (the individual's and others') so that everyday conflict becomes manageable.
  • to identify individual strategies for making work/life balance an achievable reality.
