The Lockerbie Trial finished on 31st January, 2001 when Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi was found guilty. His co-accused Al Amin Khalifa Fhimah, was found not guilty.

Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi appealed against the verdict and on 23rd January, 2002 an appeal began with the defence saying the trial judges were wrong to return a guilty verdict.

The judges considering the appeal delivered their verdict on 14th March, 2002 when Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrah lost his appeal against the conviction.

A decision on whether a second appeal will be heard will be announced when the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission (SCCRC) reveals the findings of its three-year review of the case on 28th June 2007.
