2012 was quite an eventful year for Laibach with a number of highlights, most noticeably performing 200 feet underground in a coal mine and also the historic special concert at the Tate Modern gallery in London. The concert in London was part of a wider NSK programme that took place over three months in the city with exhibitions and related events at various locations, there was also a special daylong symposium held at the Tate Modern. Laibach created the soundtrack for the film Iron Sky which was broadly well received and found a large audience, it certainly drew in a lot of publicity and the film production team are now planning follow ups. Iron Sky was possibly the main reason for Laibach becoming much more noticeable in the UK's mainstream media, including the BBC radio stations, mainly BBC6, who were playing Laibach's music once again at a rate not heard since the 80's. While we had been expecting the Laibach Revisited album it did not materialise but we did get three other releases instead. The Iron Sky soundtrack and the themed compilation An Introduction To … Laibach / Reproduction Prohibited were released by Mute Records while Live Here Now released the excellent live recording of Laibach at Tate Modern. Laibach had quite an active tour programme, both legs of the European 'We Come In Peace' tours had the Iron Sky theme. Laibach provided the music for the theatre production of ' Die Macht der Finsternis' (The Power of Darkness) at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus and also inspired the images used in the set.
Dejan Knez has continued with the Laibach sub group 300,000VK with a number of live performances. He also held a solo exhibition of his latest artwork in Trbovlje.
Looking ahead for 2013, we can expected Laibach to maintain an active programme and they are planning a number of projects. Currently they are busy working in the studio creating a lot of new material for various projects, one of which will be the new studio album to be released by Mute Records. While there is no date set yet there is a good chance it may get released this year. There are no major tours planned but they intend to do some touring to keep the band in motion. It has been a long wait for Laibach Revisited, an album a lot of the long time fans have been very keenly waiting for. All the material has been recorded but there are unrelated external issues apparently holding up this release. In recent years there has been a lot of interest in Laibach Kunst projects and will continue to be a major part of Laibach's plans. Dejan Knez has been working on the new 300,000VK album "Dark Side of Europe" which should be released at some point soon.
There were a number of other plans which are at an early stage therefore check the news section for the latest information.
