AN ENTHUSIASTIC CROWD OF YOUNG PEOPLE AT THE LAIBACH SHOW
Review by Mitja Stefancic

The most famous Slovene band, Laibach, appeared on Saturday night in the Krizanke theater in Ljubljana. In October last year, the group realised the album Jesus Christ Superstars, and recently its European tour just ended. With the Saturday concert, the second leg of the tour began, although the band recently appeared in Cankarjev dom for the opening concert of the European month of Culture.
One hour before the concert started, a wide group of young people was already in front of Krizanke, waiting for the doors to open. Afterwards they completely flooded the theater. The concert began with a one-hour delay. When some members of the band came on stage, the crowd cheered them, while when the singer appeared, some 50 fans came right under the stage.
The show began with the song The final countdown and it went on for one hour and a half. The band played both new and older songs, and among them the new singles God Is God and Jesus Christ Superstar. At the end, three older songs were played to the audience. The music was accompained by various projections and light effects. The band probably decided to tape the show on video since some seven cameras filmed it.
Laibach were formed in 1980 in Trbovlje. They played in different parts of Europe, USA and Canada. In 1984 NSK was formed, which apart from Laibach comprises also the painting group Irwin, the theater group Noordung and the design studio Novi Kolektivizem. Laibach played also in Trieste two years ago in the Miela theatre.
