The aim of this pub crawl is
easy. Participants begin as humble peasants in a fantasy world of
adventure and danger - coincidentally, in much the same way as
the characters in the boardgame "Talisman" start off.
Through their glorious deeds and amazing feats of alcoholism,
they someday hope to gather together the resources to achieve
victory, and with it the mightiest artifact-THE CROWN OF
NOUGAT
The route of the pub crawl (discussed later) will be traversed in teams of four persons, with no more than one of any character class in any one team. As in the Talisman boardgame, each character is defined by three separate statistics - STRENGTH, CRAFT, and LIVES . The eventual winning team will be the team which has accumulated the most total points when all the members' STRENGTH, CRAFT and LIVES have been added together at the end of the crawl.
STRENGTH
Each character begins the crawl
with one point of STRENGTH.
Points in this statistic are gained for defeating
anything of an alcoholic nature that is not a
spirit - e.g. PINTS OF BEER, PINTS OF CIDER,PINT BOTILES,
BOTTLES OF STRONG STUFF, and so on. One point of STRENGTH
is gained for each victory. Strength can also be gained
from drinking contests, as discussed later.
CRAFT
Each character begins the crawl
with one point of CRAFT.
Points in this statistic are gained for defeating SPIRITS
- for each measure of spirits consumed, a character gains
one CRAFT point. Also, most of the characters' special
abilities are geared towards gaining more CRAFT (for
those who have not played Talisman: the boardgame, CRAFT
is a measure of general dexterity, cunning, magical
ability and intelligence.)
LIVES
Each player begins with four LIVES.
Lives are lost when you PUKE, FAINT, are CHIBBED,
COLLAPSE, LOSE YOUR TEETH, or have a PINT GLASS inserted
into your FACE by an IRATE SCOTS GENTLEMAN. You get the
general idea. There are also special rules for losing
lives discussed under the individual characters. LIVES
can be healed by consuming any item from a fast food shop
menu of reasonable size (e.g. a bag of chips or a burger.)
If all four lives are lost before a player can heal
himself, then he loses one STRENGTH and one CRAFT per
further loss of life.
TOAD
Any poor miserable bugger caught
cheating in any way is turned into a slimy little TOAD.
No further STRENGTH or CRAFT can be gained when you are a
TOAD. The TOAD is only allowed to drink Australian Lager
and must drink at least one pint per pub in which he
remains a TOAD. The character remains a TOAD for two pubs
or until the organisers get bored or are bribed suitably.
The TOAD must prefix all his sentences with a clearly
audible "Ribbit" and must wear a Post-it note
on his forehead bearing the legend "TOAD".
These rules apply especially when the TOAD is ordering
his lager.
