My name is Emilia Weber. I have just finished an undergraduate degree in English Literature and Theatre Studies. I came to the University of Glasgow after doing my A-Levels at school in London and after completing a foundation course in Textiles at Central St. Martin’s College of Art. I applied for the Talent Scholarship after being sent information about it prior to my arrival at the University of Glasgow. I knew that I had done well in my A-levels and I also thought that I might be financially eligible for it as I had received E.M.A whilst at school, and because of my parent’s income. Coming to university so far away from home (London) was always going to be a financial struggle and therefore I knew that any assistance I could get would be invaluable in order to enable me to travel home when I needed to and to support me whilst at university.

Benefits of being awarded the Talent Scholarship
The Talent Scholarship allowed me to be on an even par with my peers and ensured my studies didn't suffer as a result of not having enough money. I was able to benefit from having the same opportunities as my peers, buy the same materials as them and go and see plays as they could. The scholarship also allowed me not to work during the term time was which hugely beneficial to my studies. I was also able to go home to London which if I had not been able to do I would have not come to Glasgow, so in this sense it enabled me to attend this university which in a broader sense has been life changing.
