Engineering entry requirements

BEng

Highers

  • Applications will be considered from all applicants who achieved a minimum of BBB at their first sitting (fifth year).
     
    Applicants who achieved AAAB at their first sitting including Mathematics and Physics will immediately receive an unconditional offer.
     
    Applicants who achieved between BBB and AABB at their first sitting may receive a conditional or unconditional offer once all applications have been reviewed, in March 2013.
     
    Applicants who will be sitting their Highers for the first time in 2013 will receive a conditional offer based on the achievement of AAAB including Mathematics and Physics.
     
    Additional conditional offers may be made to sixth year applicants, who were marginally below BBB at first sitting based upon an analysis of applications versus available places.

A-levels

  • ABB including Maths and Physics.

European qualifications

Alternative qualifications and notes

  • Irish Highers: AAAB including Maths and Physics.
  • Revised HNC in an appropriate subject: must contain Maths for Engineering 2 or equivalent and A Grade in graded unit plus Higher Maths grade C or equivalent.
  • Higher Technological Studies will be considered as an alternative to Higher Physics.
  • A-level Engineering Science will be considered as an alternative to Physics for Electronics-based degree programmes.
  • International Baccalaureate: 32 points including Maths and Physics at 5 HL or 6 SL

Specific requirements
Music (Electronics with Music) requires Higher or A-level Music or Grade 6 in the Associated Board practical and theory exams.
 
European Language (Mechanical Engineering: European Curriculum) requires evidence of European language at Higher or A-level.


MEng
