  • The following HNC/D qualifications are recognised for first year entry to MA in Health & Social Studies programme: Administration and Information Technology, Advertising and Public Relations, Business,  Communications with Media,  Financial Services, International Trade and Business, Legal Services, Management, Marketing, Media Analysis and Production, Practical Journalism, Social Sciences, Health Care, Social Care.     The following HND qualifications are also recognised for second year entry with a AB (or ABB) in the Graded Units (or 50% merits overall or AABB in Integrative Assessments) to the MA in Health & Social Studies programme; Social Science.

Primary Education with Teaching Qualification (MA)

Highers

  • AAB or ABBB including English. Must have Standard Grade Maths at Grade 1 or 2.

A-levels

  • BBB. Must have English Language and Literature at GCSE at C plus GCSE Maths at B or better.

Alternative qualifications and notes

  • Intermediate Level 2 is accepted as equivalent to Standard Grade (credit) Maths.
  • Irish Highers: AAB/AABB to include English plus Ordinary or Pass Maths B or better.
  • Approved Access Courses, eg, SWAP Access to Primary Education. Entrance to the course is based on academic qualifications and performance at interview.
  • HND Additional Support Needsmay be a possible pathway into Year 2 subject to interviews and references. Candidates must also have Higher English or equivalent and Standard Grade Maths or equivalent at Grade 1 or 2.
  • Other HND qualificationswill admit to first level entry with 50% merits, BBBB in Integrative Assessments or ABB in Graded Units. Candidates must also have Higher English or equivalent and Standard Grade Maths or equivalent at Grade 1 or 2.

Environmental Stewardship (BSc) 

Highers

  • BBBB preferably with one or two from Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computing Studies, Geography, Geology, Human Biology, Information Systems, Managing Environmental Resources, Mathematics, Physics. At least one of Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry is desirable.

A-levels

  • BBB preferably with one or two from Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Computing Studies, Environmental Science, Geography, Geology, Human Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Science (Double Syllabus), Statistics, Zoology. At least one of Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry is desirable.
