MA (Hons); BD (Min)

Highers

  • Applications will be considered from all applicants who achieved a minimum of ABBB at their first sitting (fifth year).
 

     
    Applicants who achieved AAAB at their first sitting will immediately receive an unconditional offer.
     
    Applicants who achieved ABBB or AABB at their first sitting may receive a conditional or unconditional offer once all applications have been reviewed, in March 2012. Conditional offers made to applicants sitting additional Highers or Advanced Highers will require them to achieve AAAA (or equivalent) over the two sittings.
     
    Applicants who will be sitting their Highers for the first time in 2012 will receive a conditional offer based on the achievement of AAAB.
     
    Additional conditional offers may be made to sixth year applicants, who were marginally below ABBB at first sitting based upon an analysis of applications versus available places.

Alternative qualifications and notes

  • First year entry HNC in Arts, Humanities or Business subject area with an A in the Graded Unit (or 50% merits overall or AB in Integrative Assessments).
  • First year entry HND in Arts, Humanities or Business subject area with an AAB in the Graded Unit (or 50% merits overall or AABB in Integrative Assessments).
  • The following HNC/D qualifications are recognised for first year entry to arts and social sciences programmes: Administration and Information Technology, Advertising and Public Relations, Business, Communications with Media, Financial Services, International Trade and Business, Legal Services, Management, Marketing, Media Analysis and Production, Practical Journalism, and Social Sciences.
  • HNC/D in Performing Arts is not accepted
  • Irish Highers AAAB
  • Approved Access Courses
  • International Baccalaureate 36 points
  • European Baccalaureate 85% overall
  • Open University Credits pass in Foundation level
  • University of Glasgow’s Department of Adult & Continuing Education Access Course: BBBB

Music

MA Music courses require Higher Music at B or Advanced Higher at C or Merit in Grade 7 Associated Board practical and theory exams. There is no audition for MA entry.

MA Music courses require A-level Music at C or AS Level at B or Merit in Grade 7 Associated Board practical and theory exams. There is no audition for MA entry.

Applicants without evidence of Music may be considered on an individual basis following interview.

Candidates must also be proficient on a solo instrument or voice with at least a Merit at ABRSM Grade 8 or equivalent. Such a qualification may be substituted for a Higher at Grade B (or an A-level at Grade D). Admission to the BMus is subject to an audition and interview. Applicants are encouraged to give a full and specific account of their musical interests in their UCAS personal statements and be prepared to discuss these at interview.


Applicants to Joint Honours programmes involving Computing Science, Maths or Physics must meet the Mathematics requirement (see Entry requirementsScience).
