Whether you’re already active or want to take your first steps towards a healthier lifestyle, we have something for everyone! Facilities are available seven days a week from early morning to late at night:

Stevenson Building

  • 25m, 6 lane heated swimming pool

Garscube Sports Complex

  • 2 all-weather synthetic pitches
  • 6 grass pitches

  • free onsite parking

The health and fitness programme caters for all levels and includes free gym inductions, online exercise advice, 1-2-1 personal training and over 50 exercise classes per week. Facilities are packed with the latest CV equipment, resistance machines and free weights.

Our recreational programme focuses on fun and trying something new in a relaxed environment. A number of specialist courses, drop-in sport sessions and recreational football, hockey and squash leagues are on offer each Semester.

For those who like club sport - there are 47 to choose from. The majority of clubs train weekly. Competitive clubs participate in University and local/national competitions on a weekly basis. Recreational clubs organise both home and abroad trips throughout the year.

Talented athletes may receive a number of sports bursaries, access to other specialist services to aid their development and help balance academic life with training and competition schedules.

Remember - access to SRS Membership is included in your Residence Fees - Head down to the Stevenson Building or Garscube Sports Complex and bring along your accommodation contract as supporting evidence and you can join up straight away

Fresher’s Week 2013 – 1 University… 7 days… over 100 free sporting activities… How many will you try?

  • We are open throughout Fresher’s Week (16-22 September)
  • Pop in and try some of the activities on offer at the Stevenson Building and Garscube Sports Complex during our special Fresher’s Week Programme with exercise classes, drop-in sport and club taster sessions. Free entry during Freshers’ Week
  • The Sports Fair - activity hall in the Stevenson Building on Tuesday, 17th (1000-1700) and Wednesday, 18th (1000-1600). Drop in and see our full range of exercise classes, club sport and additional services on offer
  • Sports taster sessions run from Thursday 19th to Sunday 22nd and details can be found from clubs at the sports fair.
  • The GUSA Party on Wednesday, 18th from 1900, in the GUU Debates Chamber and Dining Room. Theme is announced in the week/run up to the week.
  • Disability sports taster sessions will be held on Tuesday 17th in both GUU and QMU unions. Between 1300 and 1500.
