Talent ?

Talent Scholarships

Description: The University of Glasgow is awarding 50 undergraduate Talent Scholarships in academic year 2013-14 to support students who could face financial difficulties in taking up their place to study at the University. The value of each scholarship is £1,000 p.a. for each year of the degree programme, subject to satisfactory progress. Talent Scholarships are available to students entering any of the University’s colleges. Dental School students are eligible for a talent scholarship in their first year of study only; they are eligible for the NHS Dental Bursary in the following years.

Value: £1,000 p.a. for each year of the degree programme, subject to satisfactory progress.

Eligibility: You are eligible to apply for a Talent Scholarships if:

  • you have demonstrated excellent academic achievement before starting University
  • you live in the UK and are classified as a ‘Home’ student for fee purposes
  • you intend to commence your full-time undergraduate degree programme in September 2013
  • you or your family's circumstances are such that you may find it difficult to take up a place at the University for financial or other reasons.

Glasgow International College Achievement Award ?

Glasgow International College Achievement Award

Description:The University of Glasgow/Glasgow International College Achievement Award offers 6 x £3000 tuition fee discounts for one year postgraduate taught programmes and for the first year of undergraduate programmes for 2013/14.

Eligibility: This exciting scholarship is only available to current students of Glasgow International College who are applying to go on to study at one of the following Colleges: MVLS*, Social Sciences or Science and Engineering. Candidates must have achieved an overall pass rate of 70% and have a final attendance rate of +90%.

Value: One off £3000 tuition fee discount for one year full-time postgraduate programme or the first year of the undergraduate programme.

Deadline:Closing date is 26 April 2013

* Life Sciences only, all clinical courses are excluded
** Offers of the scholarship may be conditional on results due at the end of August


Undergraduate Excellence ?

Undergraduate Excellence

Description: The University of Glasgow will award a total of 30 undergraduate scholarships of £5,000 per annum. The scholarship will be awarded as a tuition fee discount for students starting a full time Undergraduate degree programme (non clinical) in September 2013.

Value: £5,000 per annum

Eligibility: The scholarships are competitive and awarded on the basis of academic merit. Applicants must be nationals of a country outside the EU and must have firmly accepted an offer of a place on a full-time basis for undergraduate study at the University of Glasgow. Students already on a programme are not eligible.

Santander Scholarship ?

Santander Scholarships

Description:
The University of Glasgow-Santander Scholarship offers awards of £5000 as a tuition fee discount for our one year postgraduate taught programmes for 2013/14.

Eligibility: Candidates must be citizens of the 14 countries in the Santander scheme; Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia, Spain, Uruguay, Venezuela and USA. Candidates will be selected on the basis of their academic ability and the quality of their personal statement.

Value: £5000 tuition fee discount for one year full-time courses.

University Trust International Leadership Scholarship ?

University Trust International Leadership Scholarship

Description:
The University of Glasgow will award 52 University Trust International Leadership scholarships to international (non-EU) students starting a Masters degree programme in September 2013 in any discipline (clinical programmes are not eligible).

Eligibility: Applicants must achieve the international equivalent of a UK first class honours degree.

Value: There are 12 scholarships worth £10,000 and 40 scholarships worth £5,000, against tuition fees.

Terms and Conditions

These scholarships are available to applicants who will be registered as new undergraduate students or postgraduate taught students at the University of Glasgow. Applicants who will be registered as Postgraduate Research students are not eligible.

All sections of the application must be completed as instructed on the online application per instructions.

Applicants must have an offer of a place for the next admission intake in order to be considered and will be expected to meet all the conditions of their academic offer in time to register at the University of Glasgow.

A deposit* of £2000 is required to confirm acceptance of a scholarship (*Applicants for Talent Awards are excluded). The Scholarship Team reserves the right to withdraw the offer of a scholarship if it is not accepted within the given deadline and to re-allocate it to reserve candidates. Scholarships may not be deferred to the following academic year. Applicants must therefore register on their academic course by the given start date, as specified in their award communication.

Scholarships are awarded for a specific programme of study as stated in the award communication. Applicants should seek permission and obtain consent from the Scholarship Team before making any changes to their programme of study (this includes changing course title, course transfers, suspending studies, etc.).Please note that approval is not guaranteed and where changes are made without prior approval, the scholarship may be withdrawn and students may be required to repay the scholarship in full.* (*Applicants for Talent Awards are excluded).

Scholarships are awarded for a set period of study as stated in the award communication. Scholarships cannot be extended.

Scholars must be registered as full-time students. Scholars who withdraw from their programme* before completion will be required to repay the scholarship in full. (*Applicants for Talent Awards are excluded).

Award of scholarship is conditional upon the status for fee-paying purposes being correctly determined by the Admissions team. Scholars whose status is pending or has changed must notify the scholarship team immediately.

Scholarships cannot be awarded in conjunction with other scholarships bursaries and discounts* offered by the University of Glasgow. (*Applicants for Talent Awards are excluded).

Scholarships are not available as a cash alternative (Talent Awards are excluded).

Scholarships are supplementary to a scholar’s main source of income.

Scholars may be requested to participate in current and future promotional activities and as such may be interviewed and photographed by our marketing team. Scholars may also be asked to contribute occasionally to the promotion of the University of Glasgow during events organised by the Recruitment and International Office. Scholars agree no payment will be made by the University to the scholars for their participation in promotional activities.

Talent Applicants Only: If scholars are awarded a ‘named’ Talent Award (i.e. the funding for which has been provided to the University by a donor), in accepting the award, scholars agree to write to the donor(s) to provide a progress report on their studies on an annual basis when requested to do so.

Talent Applicants Only: To support the University’s work to increase the Scholarship Fund further, scholars agree they will provide feedback about how the Talent Scholarship has been of assistance to them when requested.

The decision of the scholarship selection committee is final.
