At Glasgow we bring together basic, translational and clinical research in cardiovascular and medical sciences, and we deliver a range of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical programmes. We are ranked among the top 50 universities* in the world for medicine and health.
Our research groups are based in the purpose-built British Heart Foundation Glasgow Cardiovascular Research Centre, the West Medical Building, the Western Infirmary, and the Royal Infirmary. State-of-the-art facilities enable us to focus on a comprehensive research agenda.
Areas of expertise include:
- cardiovascular sciences
- stroke/cerebrovascular disease and care of the elderly
- exercise physiology/sports medicine; and
- clinical genetics/genomics
We have a number of strategic collaborations with other research institutes, as well as multidisciplinary collaborations with mathematics, computing science, bioinformatics, structural biology and engineering under the umbrella of Systems Medicine.
