Business and industry

To benefit both our SIT-UofG students and your company’s research and development activities, we seek relevant projects from your organisation as final-year projects (FYP) or Level 3 group projects. These aim to provide students with an industrially relevant project and an opportunity to relate what they have learnt in the classroom to actual engineering and computing science practice.  We encourage industrial and commercial organisations to contact us to discuss possible project topics.

Computing Science

In Level 3 projects groups of up to 5 students typically develop and deploy a software application over a two semester period.  In final year projects, an individual student develops and deploys a software application over a two semester period.  In both cases, the students routinely visit the industrial partner.

Engineering

At the beginning of the final-year project, students will work on it in parallel with their coursework and, during Semester 2 (January to March), you will have the option for the student to be attached to your company for 2 days per week.

Industrial liaison

Each degree programme has an Industrial Liaison Committee that also oversees the Project Advisory Board.  We invite interested companies to join.  Please contact the enquiry address for the relevant programme.

Industrial postgraduate PhD programme

The University of Glasgow, in collaboration with the Economic Development Board (EDB) Singapore, now offers fully-funded, full-time PhD programmes for trainees to work on an industry project with a Singapore-based company.
