Gilchrist images competition

The new Gilchrist PG club is opens on 26th October and we are looking for some interesting images to decorate its walls.  If you have an image or photo that says something interesting about your research, why not enter our competition.

Gilchrist Images of Research
The competition is open to all Postgraduate Research students at the University of Glasgow (one entry per student).  It aims to find examples of the cutting-edge research being carried out by those across the University.  Students should submit a compelling image that represents something about their research, accompanied by a title and short description (maximum 60 words) explaining the link between the image and their research in a manner that is accessible to members of the general public.

Submission
Images can either be portrait or landscape. They should be saved with your surname as the file name and emailed as a JPEG to elizabeth.adams@glasgow.ac.uk.

Entrants are responsible for ensuring that the image is their own work and that they have exclusive ownership of it, as well as the permission of anyone featuring in the image. Participants will retain copyright of their image and will be credited for its use. However, by entering the competition, participants grant the University of Glasgow the right to display the image in The Gilchrist Postgraduate Club and on facebook.

Entries will be displayed on The Gilchrist Postgraduate Club Facebook page and a public vote will be used to select the top four entries, based on both their visual appeal and also how the image and description together communicate the essence of the research being undertaken.

Prizes
The top four entries will have their images professionally mounted and displayed within The Gilchrist Postgraduate Club for up to 18months (after which you'll have the mounted print to take home with you).
There will also be the following prizes awarded:

1st prize: £100 Amazon Voucher
Runners up: 3x £40 Amazon voucher

Entrants can start submitting their images now, closing date is Wednesday, 21st of November 2012. Images will then be displayed on the Gilchrist PG facebook page with voting closing on Friday, 7th December 2012, and the winners announced.

Should the quality of entries fall below the required standard, the competition organiser reserves the right not to award prizes.
