Support Services
The University recognises that time spent during study may be challenging and that support is often advisable. There are a range of services available to assist students with the various aspects of student life such as academic concerns, welfare type problems and also difficulties that are more personal and emotional which can be helped through Counselling.
Academic concerns
Adviser of Studies
If you are having difficulties with your studies you should make an appointment to meet with your Adviser of Studies and discuss any problems. They may recommend other University services that might also be available to help you.
Changing Course or Thinking of Leaving
If you are thinking of leaving or changing courses you should consult the following leaflet for more information:
Welfare concerns
SRC Advice Centre
The Advice Centre is an advice, information and representation service provided by the SRC for all Glasgow University students. The Advice Centre offer free and confidential advice on wide range of subjects..
Personal and Emotional concerns
The Student Counselling and Advisory Service (SCAS)
The SCAS provides counselling to help you deal with more personal and sensitive needs. We also recognise that these can at times have an adverse impact on your ability to study. The Counsellors are all professionally trained and experienced and abide by the relevant ethical codes for counselling. Registered students of the University of Glasgow who are undertaking undergraduate or post graduate degrees can refer themselves to the SCAS. However, international students enrolled with the Glasgow International College are advised to seek support from the college’s Student Adviser, Emma Meredith, in the first instance, as referral to the SCAS must have prior approval from the college.
