SABER stands for Scientifically Advanced Bureau for Espionage and Research. This is a SHIELD type organisation, which protects national security, both internal and external, mainly from superhuman threats. General John Granite is the director of SABER. He has greying temples, smokes a cigar and is one of the hardest men alive. The HQ is a huge complex underneath the Rockies, which can withstand a nuclear strike. There are other bases in larger US cities. SABER has a great many vehicles, weapons and agents.
Its arsenal includes power armour troops; numerous anti-super weapons including high power lasers, particle accelerators, capture nets and knockout gas; VTOL craft (called Saberwings); robotic attack dogs and tigers. Saber Troopers on street patrol will often be in the company of robot dogs.
