How much does the training cost?

Training is offered free of charge to  relevant University staff and students.

I am a member of staff/student. How do I book?

Unless advertised as a drop-in session, workshops must be booked in advance and places are offered on a first-come-first-served basis. Bookings can be made online via the link below or by contacting the SLP Training team.

I am an external delegate. How do I book?

Send an email with details of what you wish to book, plus the name of an Admin contact and your company's full address to slptraining@glasgow.ac.uk.

What skills or experience do I need to attend a workshop?

Anything you need to have done in advance of any SLP workshop will be clearly indicated at the point of booking.

What happens once I submit my booking form?

You will receive email confirmation of your booking and then a reminder one week before the workshop date.

What happens if I find I can't attend a workshop on which I have booked?

It is important to let us know of any cancellations so we can allocate the places to someone else.  You can cancel via this link or by following the link on your joining instructions.

What happens if I am late for a course?

We accept that things happen which can make you late.  As we are keen to minimise any disruption to colleagues at the workshop we ask that you make every effort to arrive on time.

How will I be trained?

Where possible we will apply a “just-in-time” model to ensure that users receive training as near as possible to the time they will be using the new system. This should reduce the need for re-training. We aim to provide training 3 or 4 weeks prior to the “go-live” date for given tasks.

The provisional window for end-user training is May to Mid August and we are currently working on putting together a more detailed programme for a range of system roles, defined by what tasks a person will need to carry out in the system. When a programme for your area is ready it will be available for booking via the on-line booking system.

How long will the training take?

This will vary depending on your role in using MyCampus. The nature of the different roles is currently being agreed through consultation with SLPCs and key College / University Services representatives. MyCampus roles will not necessarily equate to job titles as processes are carried out by different job roles in different parts of the University.

Some training will be via self-paced flexible learning packages and some will be face to face training sessions ranging from 2 hours to a full day. the number of sessions required will depend on your role and the range of MyCampus skills you will require.

Can I see a demo?

Some people have already seen the system due to their involvement in plan building or creating the catalogue of courses, or at one of a series of open demos. As part of your introduction to MyCampus you will be able to view and use the system in advance of using the ‘live’ version. A good course to start with is MyCampus Fundamentals.

How will training happen after the implementation?

The structure and format of on-going training provision is still to be agreed. The project training team has responsibility for developing materials that will continue to be available beyond the date of implementation.
