Scott completed a degree in Molecular & Cellular Biology here at the University of Glasgow, but while studying for his PhD in Genetics he got the chance to teach on some undergraduate courses and realised that this was much more fun and fulfilling than spending all of his time in a lab coat. He took as many opportunities as he could to demonstrate labs, lead tutorials and deliver lectures, and his love of all things scientific led him to volunteer as a scientific consultant at an arts-based youth group in the north of Glasgow, devising and teaching fun experiments designed to introduce children and teenagers to the world of science in ways that encouraged their creativity to shine through.

His interests lie in improving his students' underlying learning skills, particularly through the application of modern and emerging technologies, which he is keen to work into his teaching as an Effective Learning Adviser.
