What is a Programme Specification?

A programme specification is a document containing core information about degrees and other programmes of study (such as Diplomas).  It outlines the intended knowledge, understanding, skills and other attributes that will have been developed by students on successfully completing a specific programme of study.  Programme specifications also provide details of the teaching, learning and assessment methods.

As a programme specification gives detailed information about the outcomes of a specific programme of study, it may be helpful to read more general information on degree programmes available at the University first before searching for a relevant programme specification.

Members of staff involved in preparing programme specifications should consult the University’s guidance.
