Student Complaints Procedure

Key Information: Senate approved the adoption of a revised Complaints Procedure. The revisions will improve the operation of the Student Complaints procedures, provide guidance as to what may constitute harassment, and improve the clarity of the text of the procedure.

Summary: Senate approved the adoption of a revised Complaints Procedure.  The revisions will improve the operation of the Student Complaints procedures and improve the clarity of the text of the procedure. Other key revisions are:

  1. §2.16 has been amended to confirm the University's right to suspend the complaints procedure on the basis of improper conduct by the complainant.
  2. Guidance on harassment has been added at §7.6, this including examples of unacceptable behaviour and information on related University policies.

Taking account of advice from the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman, the University will develop a policy on unacceptable behaviour which will define such behaviour and the measures the University will take in response to it.
