For whom: Staff who require to be familiar with the procedures set out in the Code of Discipline.
Summary: In June 2007 the Senate approved the adoption of a revised Code of Discipline. Although it is normal for penalties imposed by the Senate Disciplinary Committee to be suspended while an appeal is heard, the Code of Discipline has been amended to confirm the University’s right to not suspend such penalties.
New clauses - §49 j (iii) and §50 e - confirm that, when imposing a penalty, the Senate Disciplinary Committee may express a recommendation that the penalty should not be suspended in the event of the student appealing its decision.
