Word processing of submitted coursework

Education Committee agreed that there should be no University-wide regulation governing the mandatory word processing of coursework. However, departments can implement their own regulations but in doing so these should:

• make due allowance for extenuating circumstances in recognition that students might not always have access to a computer or at that they might have problems with a computer when completing coursework;
• not be mandatory for Level 1 students who may not have the relevant IT skills until they had completed the Certificate of Basic IT Competence, normally at the end of Year 1.
