Archive

An archive of documents relating to Screen, covering the period from the mid 1950s (when the Society of Film Teachers was formed) through to 1990 (when the journal moved to its present base in the University of Glasgow) is held within Screen's Editorial Office at the University of Glasgow and may be viewed by prior arrangement.

Among the Archive's holdings are minutes of Screen editorial board meetings; Society for Education in Film and Television (SEFT) yearbooks, reports, other publications, and minutes; issues in the first series (1959-1968) of Screen's predecessor, Screen Education; and Society of Film Teachers documents from the 1950s.

A collection of SEFT materials forms part of the National Media Education Archive. This records the development of Media Education in the UK and in related Overseas Education systems. It includes paper documentation providing evidence of the philosophies and working practices of media educationalists and their organisations, with books, articles, teaching resources and other publications. Video and audio tapes, films, magazines and newspapers are also included. The collection  is housed in the National Arts Education Archive, managed by Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
