The University of Glasgow Student Ambassador Scheme

- Do you have a passion for the University of Glasgow and your course?
- Have you wanted to show potential students why the University is so great?
- Do you remember being shown around campus by current students when you were looking at the University?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions and want to join our great team get in touch! Many current students who want to pass on their individual experiences at the University to prospective students and their families are members of the Student Ambassador Scheme.
As the face of the University, the Student Ambassadors are in the best position to show prospective students just why the University is so great and what life is really like as a student at the University of Glasgow.
Anyone, holding a UK Driving Licence, from first to final year can get involved – all you need is enthusiasm!
The goals of the Ambassadors are to:
- Inform prospective students and parents interested in the University of Glasgow about all facets of University of Glasgow Life - academic programmes, Colleges/School and student life, sports facilities, social opportunities, and student services.
- Personalise the University by making campus visitors feel welcome, comfortable, and positive about the University of Glasgow and the city by demonstrating sincerity, enthusiasm, credibility, interest, and helpfulness.
Activities of the Ambassadors:
- Representing the University of Glasgow by giving campus tours to prospective students and their guests. You will, therefore, be expected to spend five minutes during the campus tour telling the group about your experiences as a Glasgow student as well as describing all University facilities and services.
- Assisting in Webchats, producing student profiles for the website and recruitment publications.
- Assisting UK Recruitment Officers at UCAS and Higher Education Events throughout the UK.
- Assisting, as needed, at special recruitment events such as Open Day, Afternoon Visits, Applicants Visit Day and Parents’ Information Events that occur throughout the year.
Benefits: Graduate Attributes
Being a Student Ambassador provides you with a lot of skills that employers appreciate that are not taught on your degree. You’ll be trained by the Recruitment and International Office. Leading campus tours and talking to parents will increase your confidence and presentation skills. These are the types of skills that employers look for on top of a good degree. The best thing about this is that it fits around your schedule. You only choose the events that you can work at. And of course you’ll be paid for every event you do.
