Data protection

The University collects and processes information, including images, about its students, applicants and potential applicants, for academic, administrative, management, pastoral, and health and safety reasons. Some of this information is considered as sensitive personal data in the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998.

The information is provided by a student or on his/her behalf. The information is processed in accordance with the University's Notification with the Information Commissioner under the Data Protection Act 1998, and is disclosed to third parties only with student's consent, or to meet a statutory obligation, or in accordance with the University's Notification with the Information Commissioner, or in accordance with the terms of the Act.

In the context of Residential Services, the information is used to secure, develop and administer the provision and operation of residential accommodation & services commensurate with the needs and demands of students, staff and commercial users.

Residential Services may employ agents and subcontractors to provide all or part of the stated service. The agents and subcontractors may have access to the information under the instruction of Residential Services and will be supported by written contract. The personal information, including photographs, that you supply to Residential Services may be retained by Residential Services for up to seven years for audit and record purposes.
