Neil Bowering, Project Manager, EPSRC Knowledge Transfer Account (KTA)
Neil joined the University in December 2009, as Project Manager for the EPSRC Knowledge Transfer Account (KTA), a £2.5m initiative designed to ensure that research funded by the Engineering and Physical Research Council in the area of nanotechnology is exploited to maximum effect with the aim that any research results produced might benefit the UK economy and society. A key part of his responsibilities is the formation of new academic-industrial networks, development of industry-led research programmes and promoting the benefits of nanotechnology, which is an emergent, enabling technology area that has potential to be exploited across many industrial sectors.
Neil has spent the last 5 years working on, and managing various knowledge transfer and commercialisation activities at universities and public sector research establishments in the UK. He has extensive experience of supporting SMEs in accessing the wealth of knowledge and expertise available within universities.
His qualifications include a first degree and PhD in Materials Science and Chemistry.
