Bellahouston Bequest Fund

A one-year award open to home students undertaking a taught MPhil degree. There is a preference for Glaswegians. The award is worth £1000 annually.

Who is eligible?
You must meet all of the following criteria:
· You must be ordinarily resident in the UK for three years before the start of your course, for reasons other than education.
· You must be a postgraduate Students undertaking a Masters Degree Course in the Faculty of Arts.

The Cross Trust

What is the form of assistance?
The trust makes awards to young people of Scottish birth or parentage.

The grant is intended to extend the boundaries of the recipients knowledge.

Who is eligible?
You must be of either Scottish birth or parentage, have 'a record of distinction and ability', and be undertaking any University course in Medical Elective Studies, or a course in the Arts Faculty, including the visual and performing arts and music.

Glasgow Educational & Marshall Trust

Who is eligible?

  • You must be a Glasgow resident within one of the following post code areas: G1-5, G11/12, G14/15, G20, G22/23, G31, G34, G40-42, G45, 51.

Who is eligible?
Applicants must have Highland connections and be resident in Glasgow.

The Inverness Field Club Bursary

Who is eligible?
Available to people living in Scotland.

It is awarded for original research into any subject pertaining to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, and which the council considers to lie within the traditional interests of the club.

John Watson's Trust

What is the form of assistance?
The John Watson's Trust provides help with all expenses incurred by education and training. This includes help with the cost of trips, books and travel expenses.

Who is eligible?
You must be Scottish, under 21, with either a learning or physical disability, or in a situation of deprivation.

Priority is given to applications from people from the Lothians.

Maxton Bequest

Who is eligible?
You may receive financial assistance from the bequest if you are in the opinion of the bequest trustees 'in circumstances requiring and deserving of assistance'. You must also meet one of the following criteria:

  • You were born within the parish of Crieff.
  • Your mother or father was ordinarily resident there at the time of their birth.
  • Your mother or father was ordinarily resident in the Burgh of Kirkcaldy at the time of their birth.

Menzies Bursaries

Who is eligible?
You must be an undergraduate student on a full-time course.

Preference is given in the following order:

  • To relatives of the founder, James Menzies, fish merchant in Glasgow;
  • To persons of the name of Menzies;
  • To persons born on the estate of Menzies in the Parishes of Dull, Weem, and Fortingall
  • To the person who shall be judged best qualified and most deserving.

Renfrewshire Educational Trust

Who is eligible?
You need to have resided in Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire or Inverclyde Council areas for at least 3 years.

Funding is available for applicants undertaking a degree, including a second degree, or who show exceptional promise in vocal or instrumental music.

You can be either an undergraduate or a postgraduate student.

There is no age limit on this fund.

Parental or partner's income is taken into consideration, and if this exceeds £30,000, no funds wil be awarded.
