Academic Year
The academic year consists of two 11 week teaching periods. Teaching period 1 is followed by two weeks of revision and exams before the winter vacation. Teaching period 2 fits in before the spring vacation and is followed by six weeks of revision and exams after the vacation. For new students registration and orientation take place during week begining Monday 12 September. The first teaching period will begin on Monday 19 September. The majority of the University will follow the new academic year structure. However a small number of programmes of study, mostly in the Schools of Education, Medicine and Veterinary Medicine will vary from the standard academic year. Schools will ensure that students on programmes with non-standard session dates are aware of these variations.
