Insurance for students undertaking research furth of Glasgow
There are two elements of insurance that need to be considered prior to a student's placement:
- Students should apply for travel insurance under the University's travel insurance policy as soon as possible once the details of their trip are known. Students are also encouraged to review the details of the University's policy in the policy summary document. Queries about insurance cover should be directed to the team in the Insurance and Risk Section.
- Student research projects that involve human participants (whether this particpation is of a clinical nature or not) need to be reviewed by the Research Governance Manager. This is especially important where students will work with research participants outwith the UK (as this requires special insurance cover). Students must complete the insurance checklist on the Research Governance pages (campus only access) and submit this to the Research Governance Manager. Even if you think this won't apply to you, please complete and submit the form as this will allow the determination to be made by colleagues with specialist knowledge.
