How to use Turnitin
Turnitin2 is available via Moodle. The main aspects to using Turnitin are:
- submitting your work in draft form
- gaining feedback about it by interpreting the Originality Report produced by Turnitin in relation to your draft
- amending your work if necesary
- resubmitting a final version of your work.
The number of draft versions you can submit is decided by your School but you should always be allowed at least one.
A basic course outlining how to use Turnitin via Moodle and interpret your originality report is available. Remember that the University has agreed a policy to use Turnitin in a supportive and educative way and your School may offer class specific guidance on interpreting your Originality Report and what may need to be reviewed. The supporting company for Turnitin2 within the UK has also made many training and support materials available online. It is advised that you make use of both of these resources.
If you experience any problems with or have any questions about the Turnitin software contact the member of staff or office that have asked you to submit your work to Turnitin or submit a request for help to the IT Services online helpdesk.
