The University's Statement on Plagiarism was approved by Senate on 6 June 2002 and has been updated from time to time. The definitive version of the Plagiarism Statement is published in the University Calendar which is available electronically. The plagiarism section outlines the definition of plagiarism and the procedures that will be followed if plagiarism is suspected.
Policy on the use of Turnitin2
The Turnitin software is now available, via Moodle, across all Colleges and Schools on an ‘opt in’ basis. A policy on the use of the software has been developed to confirm an emphasis on helping students to adopt good academic practice when referring to the work and ideas of others. PDF version
Student Discipline
Heads of Department may refer cases of suspected plagiarism to the Senior Senate Assessor for Discipline who will consider the case under the University's Student Code of Conduct. If a piece of your work is referred to the Senate Assessor it is strongly recommended that you contact the Students Representative Council for further information and support.
