Using other libraries

Sconul logo

This scheme enables academic staff, postgraduate students and undergraduate students that are part time, distance learners or on a placement scheme to obtain borrowing facilities at other university libraries. Full time undergraduates may use these libraries for reference only - remember to take your student ID card with you on each visit.

Full details of the scheme are available on the SCONUL Access website

To enrol, apply online and then wait until you receive an acceptance email from us. Once you have this email, take a copy of it, and your current University of Glasgow student ID/staff ID card, to the member library you wish to visit.

Visiting other member libraries

Borrowing entitlements may vary between libraries, and IT facilities and access to databases and e journals are not normally available. You must abide by the regulations of any library you choose to join.

The University of Glasgow is currently participating in the Eduroam project. This enables you to gain access to the wireless network at other participating institutions without having to register for another username and password. As a guest you will normally be given access to the Internet only, and will not have access to local facilities such as applications, printing, etc.

To use this service you will need an Eduroam ID and password - students should use the login:

  • YourGUID@student.glasgow.ac.uk and your normal GUID password

Please note that this user name is NOT an email address.

It is recommended that you try using the service before you go to another participating institution.

For more information about this service and a list of participating institutions in the UK and world-wide - check out the IT Services eduroam webpages
