ArticleReach is a free service which allows University of Glasgow staff and students to request a journal article(s) we do not have. You can also find links to ArticleReach from the Find More button which appears in some of the Library’s databases.
If the article you want is not held at the University of Glasgow Library, just click on the ArticleReach link and your request will be sent off to a number of libraries who hold the journal. You will receive an email to let you know when the article is available for you to view or print. Articles are available to view on your desktop for 30 days. Requests can also be tracked via your Library Account.
If an article is not available from one of the ArticleReach libraries, you will receive an email asking if you would like us to try to obtain the article from other locations.
Comments or queries about ArticleReach should be directed to dds@lib.gla.ac.uk
The Secure Electronic Delivery service via FileOpen offers articles supplied by the British Library to be sent directly to your email address. These articles are supplied faster than postal photocopies and are accessible to you anywhere via a link from your email.
How does it work?
You don’t have to request your articles differently. Just submit an online request form in the usual way (via your library account) and we will arrange that the article is sent to you in this format.
The article will be sent to the email address attached to your library account and the sender will be Archie@bl.uk
Click on the link within the email message to download your article. It will be available to download for 14 days after which the file will be deleted. You will not be able to save this article although you can view it as many times as you wish during this period. We would therefore recommend that you print your document as soon as possible.
If for any reason you are unable to download the article in time, please contact dds@lib.gla.ac.uk
If the British Library are unable to provide the article you want, we will try to obtain it from another library. However, in these cases the article will be supplied as a photocopy by post.
If you are unable to / would prefer not to receive your articles electronically, you can specify that you want a paper copy on your request form.
