Library Zoning Explained
To help you find the right environment to study, the Library is zoned red, amber and green, for silent, quiet and group study. This page explains the rules for each zone and what’s expected of you when you use the library.
There are signs throughout the Library and the walls at the entrance to each floor are painted according to their zoning, so you should find it easy to remember which zone you’re in.
Please consider other library users and don’t block study spaces by leaving your items unattended – you may come back to find someone else using the space.

There are also 5 group study rooms in the Postgraduate Study Space on level 5 which can be booked by postgraduate students via the Welcome Desk.
Using Mobile Phones in the Library
If you need to make a telephone call and you’re on levels 4-11, please go to one of the stairwells to avoid disturbing other students.
The lobby outside the Postgraduate Study Space on level 5 is a quiet zone – this is because students using the Assistive Technology Room need a quiet environment to work. Please do not use your mobile phone or have conversations in this area.
