The Library Research Annexe contains important research material not in high demand. The collection holds runs of older journals and books as well as other materials including Parliamentary papers, microfilms and newspapers. The Library Research Annexe plays a vital role in storing valuable research material in a safe and secure environment. It has excellent on site consultation facilities and parking for visitors.

When you search the Library catalogue you may find items located in the Library Research Annexe. If you want the items to be brought to the Library, you need to submit a request form . There is also a link to this form if you click on the location link on the catalogue entry.

Deliveries of requested material, to the main Library, take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Material requested after 10am on these days should be included in the subsequent delivery . Some items are not available for loan and are available for consultation only. Most items in this category will be sent to the Special Collections Department on Level 12 of the Library for the reader to consult. A few items can only be consulted in the Library Research Annexe. If the item that you have requested is only available for consultation, we will let you know by email.

You are welcome to visit the Library Research Annexe to use materials in the collection. For example, if you wish to consult several volumes of a journal, it may be more convenient for you to consult on site.  Please note that it is necessary to make an appointment, the Library Research Annexe is open to visitors Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm.

From Main Library, Hillhead Street

Car

From University Avenue: downhill and turn right onto Gibson Street, continue and go through the roundabout and along Woodlands Road turning left at Charing Cross onto St George's Road. Straight ahead at Garscube Cross onto Possil Road and at junction of Keppochill Road turn left onto Saracen Street. Turn left into the entrance to the Hamiltonhill Estate and park in the estate car park.

From Byres Road: up Queen Margaret Drive, straight ahead at junction with Maryhill Road onto Bilsland Drive, turn right at junction with Balmore Road onto Saracen Street, proceed down Saracen Street and just before junction with Keppochill Road you will see Hamiltonhill Estate on the right hand side of the road; turn right into estate and park in the estate car park.

Bus

From City Centre: At Hope Street (stop outside Watt Bros.) take the No.75 or No.54 for Saracen Cross (Hope Street to Saracen Cross journey time approx. 10-15 minutes).

From Byres Road: Take No. 8 (stop outside Tennant's Bar) to Saracen Cross via Maryhill and Balmore Road (journey time approx. 25 minutes)Underground and BusTravel from Hillhead or Kelvinbridge Underground to Cowcaddens. At Cowcaddens take No. 75 or No. 54 from the bus stop on  Cowcaddens Road; all three buses go to Saracen Cross.
