Departments
- Archive Services - records documenting the history of the University since 1451 and the history of Scottish business since the late 1700s.
- Book Acquisitions - book ordering
- Cataloguing - cataloguing and classification of all Library materials

Serials and Document Delivery - journals (electronic and print) and requesting items not held at this Library
- Library Services at Level 2 - Self-issue machines, borrowing and returning books. Collect items requested from other libraries. Library membership enquiries. General enquiries, including using the catalogue, databases and electronic journals, accessing exam papers, booking group study rooms and advice on your GUID and associated password
- Library Research Annexe - The Library Research Annexe contains important research material not in high demand. The collection holds runs of older journals and books as well as other materials including Parliamentary papers, microfilms and newspapers.
- Maps, Official Publications and Statistics Unit - Parliamentary and official publications, statistics, European Union information and maps
- Photographic Unit
- Stack - closed access collection of older material no longer in high demand
- Special Collections - Library's rare books and manuscripts collections
Collections
- European Documentation Centre - the largest source of European Union information in the West of Scotland.
- Prince Bandar Collection - collection of 1,000 volumes in Arabic on Islam, Islamic law and modern Arab law was generously presented to the Library in 1997 by Prince Bandar Bin Salman Al-Saud and is the finest collection of its kind in Scotland
- Russian And East European Collection - one of the major European collections of Russian and East European materials.
- Short Loan Collection - multiple copies of course textbooks in high demand.
- Special Collections - Library's rare books and manuscripts collections
