PowerPoint Responses Toolbar
| Tool | Description |
|---|---|
| New question | Click on the New Question tool to make the current slide a Response Question slide. The Question Properties dialog is displayed. You select the properties you want to assign to the Question. The Question Properties are saved with the slide. A Response logo is placed on the slide to indicate it is a Response Question slide. During a Response PowerPoint Session, the appearance of this logo will trigger a number of automated settings, making the whole process integrate seamlessly into your lecture. |
| Edit question | Click on the Edit Question tool to display the Edit Question Properties dialog so you can edit the PowerPoint slide's question properties. This tool is available only when you are on an existing Response Question slide in the PowerPoint presentation file. |
| Delete question | Click on the Delete Question tool when you no longer want the current PowerPoint slide to function as a Response Question slide. This tool removes the Response logo from the slide and deletes the Question Properties that were saved with the slide. It does not affect the content of the PowerPoint slide itself. The Delete Question tool is available when you are on an existing PowerPoint slide with a Response Question. |
Setting up a PowerPoint presentation for use with the PRS software
Set up your PowerPoint as usual.
To add a question you need to add the question and answer text first.

Then from the toolbar choose "New question" and complete the following screen.
Once you have completed this window choose OK. You will notice that the PRS icon is now visible at the bottom left hand side of your slide. This is a visual reminder that you have asked a question on this slide.

The PRS software will start up automatically when you start your presentation.
The software will ask you give the class (session) a name.
When the first question slide appears you will get the toolbar below appearing.

You are now ready to get your students to register their clickers (you will only need to do this once per session).
| To register a clicker with the system you will need to firstly turn
it on. Then type in the two digit number (in this case 23). You will
notice that the green light that is rapidly flashing rapidly beside the
send and receive icon (double arrow) is now flashing slowly. Pressing
any number on the keypad will register on the central column. |
|
The box at the far right of the toolbar will let you know how many clickers are registered. |

To start the question click the green arrow. To add or reduce time use the plus and minus signs. To stop the question use the square icon (this will end the question). |
![]() |
While the question is running you will be able to see how many students have voted by the number to the right of the plus icon. Also note that when the question is running it is possible to pause it by using the yellow pause icon. |
As soon as the question is finished the below screen will appear giving the question results (green for correct and red for incorrect). You need to close this screen before you can do anything else.

You will need to close the above screen before you can progress your PowerPoint
When you have completed your slideshow you can close the toolbar and the screen below will appear.
Choose the "End the class" option
** If using the system in Glasgow University lecture theatres it is important that you open PowerPoint first and use it to open your presentation slides. **
